Howdy All, Me again with a 'new and improved' tudor question again. Just had our Forum Buddy, Ken Kopsky, restore two absolutely gorgeous tool boxes for me. One tall one for the '19 Centerdoor that fits perfectly on the forward end of the left runningboard and the other I want to use on the '26 tudor. However, I'm afraid its too long for either forward or aft placement on the 'board. The width and heigth are good but its 21 3/4" long and that seems to get in the way of foot-to-runningboard placement. Were runningboard tool boxes somewhat shorter these last 2 years?

George my understanding is they were all after market anyway and if any were made for specific year Fords I really couldn't say But: I had a '23 with a poorly placed Peerless box which at first I was loathe to move because of the holes the former owner drilled in the running board. 8 to be exact. He must have thought he was anchoring the Titanic. Point is it's placement made getting in & out of the car almost dangerous and I was forced to move it. So think about that before you start drilling.

Best to find a box that fits the intended space :-)

A 9" wide x 22" long, 7" high tool box fits on the Ford running board of my '24 touring, driver's side, with just a tiny bit of overhang.

Yes, they come in several sizes. If you're patient and attend plenty of auctions and swap meets, you'll find one to fit your space without spending a fortune.

Great input enabling me to make a decision. Thanks again, guys. . . So, the Ford-supplied tools that came with every T in their folding fabric 'bags' were placed under the rear seat of tourings and sedans and turtle decks of coupes and roadsters? I just felt the taller, shorter and same width tool box looked better on the centerdoor but it would fit better on the tudor. Conversely the 22" long box thats lower would also fit on the cenetrdoor. What a unique and interesting tool box Craig ! Homemade back in the day or manufactured? I agree; Mike Petersen is definitely an asset to our hobby and restoration attempts. I just bought a beautiful early '26 correct headlamp bar from him for the tudor. The picture in your first ad looks like the tool box I thought I could use on the tudor, Dan. Ken nickel plated the 2 latches and the center lock. He even made a key for both boxes he restored. Maybe I'll wait till Chickasha to see about getting a shorter tool box. . .. Thanks again
