I'm getting close to the point of buying a top kit for my 11 roadster, seeing as to how my seat doesn't have the heart shaped back. I think I could use a 1913-14 style roadster top kit with a 3 piece rear curtain.
So my question is has anyone bought a (good kit) lately and if so what your opinion of the quality of the kit, and from whom did you get it from? Last one we bought came from Red Hook I'm pretty sure they don't make tops any longer.
Thanks in advance... You can PM me if you don't want to post here.
I do not have any first-hand experience to answer your question. However I would be concerned about a '13/'14 top being too short because because your windshield goes straight up whereas the '13/'14 windshields slant back towards the rear.
Just another question to consider. And nothing makes a nice car look lousy quicker than a poorly fitting top.
Drive carefully, and enjoy the holidays! W2

Steve;
That is one beautiful car.
Wayne, good point something I had not considered was the angle of the windshield that could have been a big mistake...!
Bill, Thanks for the info, I still have the old top so maybe that is something she could use for patterns...
Richard, Thank You ! It's still a work in progress been working on it close to 2 1/2 years, off and on.
Thanks guys for your replies, Merry Christmas to everyone.
Make your own top and bows. Iam into this top assembly 175.00
That car looks mighty neat without a top......
Pretty slick job Willie.... I don't have a machine to stitch one up, who knows I may give it a shot...? Dad and I did one 25 years ago on a 23 roadster we wasn't satisfied with it but it worked.
Hey I've also thought about a truck bed as well, I've found that I can't carry my chairs to car shows with my mother-n-law seat in place.
Thanks Chuck... I like it open for sure it's a blast to drive, problem I have know is I've just had 4 skin cancers removed all were stage 5-7 so looks like I gotta start thinking about putting a top on.
Still have 3-4 more spots they are going to take off in a couple months, the ol'doctor said my life depends on follow up appointments from now on.... Looks like tops and sun screen is in my future from now on.
Steve,
My father-in-law has been doing that for more than ten years now. Follow up, take proper care of yourself, and enjoy a long life.
Steve, Classtique Upholstery. Great price, great customer service. She had a problem shipping in a reasonable amount of time but it was because of a mix-up in shipping. Apparently someone else ordered a top after I did who's name is like mine and My top got sent to him. It was an honest mistake and after talking to others mine was a one time type of thing. Thanks Wayne for the words of encouragement...
Mike, I'll give them a call after the first of Jan. I gotta clean and paint my top irons and fit the new bows. That will go pretty fast when I get started on them. Just didn't know who's doing good top kits anymore...
Thanks for the info guys I appreciate it very much.
Merry Christmas, Again...
