I`m working on fixing my 1911 Touring horn. Whats correct for the reed location and which direction? Should have a new bulb and brass tubing in tomorrow. thanks, Paul

On an '11, the tubing has a long sleeve at the horn end. The reed threads into the horn so that it "points" toward the front seat. The sleeve then threads over the reed.

To improve the sound of your horn, insert a rubber hose (the kind that you use for an icemaker) inside the brass corregated hose line. No one knows it is there and it increases that volume of air from the horn bulb

Some of the original horn reeds were soldered in place, they are not threaded. This is an example, a 1909 Rubes. Very similar to the 1911 - 12 version except the screen and bell. This one is all discolored because I just finished soldering it together.
