Anyone know what it was?
I just read about it in the Smithsonian Magazine.

A tack-proof, pneumatic automobile tire.....and that's my final answer
That’s a little to easy Herb – just go here . . .
http://www.google.com/advanced_patent_search
and type in 1000000 in the patent number box.
Patent number: 1000000
Filing date: Apr 25, 1910
Issue date: Aug 8, 1911
Technically the 1000000th patent issued was #990043 as 9957
patents were issued before the present numbering system began.
‘Utility’ patents are the only class to reach the million mark.
