Saw another thread about events, just wondering what everyone is planning.
I hope to attend Chickasha (OK), stop in on the "Speedster Reunion" in Lincoln NE. I'll try to be in Kearney NE (eastern half of NE, in I-80) for the 100 year celebration of the opening of the Lincoln Highway.
Then New London/New Brighton tour, MN. Then, hope (notice lot's of hoping ) to attend the Dearborn to Lansing MI tour and Old Car Festival (never done either). Of course, then
"hope" to finish with Hershey.
Happy New Year,
Rob
February: Sunflower swap Meet, Wichita; March: Chickasha prewar swap meet; April: Pate swap meet?; July: Iola swap meet.
Pate is a question because I want some input from people who have been there in recent years. The old meet at the museum was fabulous. After the move to the speedway, not so much. I haven't been there for several years. How is it now?
I'd love to do the Kanab tour in July, but I don't think I'll have a car ready.
I'll watch the forum for other events.
Rob & Steve -- A tour you won't want to miss next fall is the Hillbilly Tour, to be held in Eureka Springs, AR. That's just 50 miles from here, and it's a wonderful area in which to drive your Model T's. This is also an MTFCA National Tour this time around, so there should be lots to see and do. Contact details are in the VF magazine.
Oops, I forgot to mention the dates: Sept. 4-8th, 2013.
I intend to go to the Concentration Internationale de Model T in Saumur, France, last week of June. Lots of good food & wine and fascinating French-bodied Ts.
I forgot to mention the Midwinter Model T Clinic in Hutchinson next month.
The San Diego Big 3 Swap on last weekend of Feb, features lots of walking, and a fair number of T and other old car parts. Good sellers come from as far away as Idaho.
I rate Bakersfield Tour and Swap, 2nd week of April, higher than Chickasha.
Rob -
Since you drive brass-era cars, you have lots of choices. I prefer tours to shows or swap meets. Here are some I'm considering. They're almost all in the east, so travel time is an issue for you.
May 19-23 Brass in Berks County show (Sunday) and tour (4 days), Pennsylvania
June 5-8 Snappers Spring Tour, western PA
June 23-29 New England Brass and Gas, Rutland, VT
July 21-27 Northern New Jersey/Southern Ontario joint tour, Woodstock, Ontario (for those who find Kanab, Utah too far to trailer)
September 11-14 Snappers Frosty, Cobleskill, NY
Gil Fitzhugh, Morristown, NJ
Lets not forget the Leaf Peeper Tour starting on Sept 28th, the most scenic tour in the U.S. Not only is it scenic but September is the best weather in Colorado. While not part of the Leaf Peeper Tour, there will be a one day run up Trail Ridge on Sept 27 for those who are interested. Again the Trail Ridge Run is NOT part of the tour, but people from out of state like to experience Trail Ridge. The 2013 Leaf Peeper Tour will be on some new routes, email for information modelt1912@msn.com or call 303-774-9246.
The Leaf Peeper Tour is usally a small tour but some times I think that I enjoy the small tours better than a 300 car tour. The Tour will be 4days, Starting at Loveland Colorado

I am going to try and post pictures of the Leaf Peeper tour again.
I don't know what has gone wrong. I will try just one picture at a time. I keep getting a message that I don't even understand.
Wow, lots of good choices guys.
Jem, I'm intrigued by this one from your post-
"Lots of good food & wine and fascinating French-bodied Ts."
Oh, I missed the Ts on the end, forget it .
Rob
My plan is to go on Dave's tours as much as I can, even though he has trouble posting photos and I will not be driving a "T".
Ken:
The next time I head somewhere in the mountains I am going to give you a call and you can ride along with me. I used to be able to post pictures at will by am having a lot of trouble now. The three pictures above that I was trying to post, I have posted before with no problem.
I am going to have to get someone to look at this fairly new computer
test, I can't seem to post or start a thread...
Rob:
Maybe the trouble is not at our end. I keep getting a page of silly stuff that I don't understand, but no pictures.
Dave:
I really do not think it is you, I see other things wrong with this site too
I cannot upload a full picture, just part of one.
Pic is correct size, too.
Still works for me.
Geezer pics always squeeze through the filters on this site.
I didn't make it to a single tour last year. I need to make it to at least four this year. I need at least one big one, the Endurance Run, A few more, a lot of just me driving around. The past few years have been tough. I better start getting caught up!
And just to try a photo posting, I was on tour about fifteen years ago.
Do drive carefully, and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! W2
I see some of you are making it posting pictures so I am going to try again. If the picture shows it will be on an earlier Leaf Peeper Tour.
I would like to try two more pictures for next years Leaf Peeper Tour. If they work it will be pictures of a couple of routes for next year. The first picture will be outside of Saratoga, Wyoming and the next picture will be on Milner Pass in Wyoming.
Seems like these tours are always out west or down south. Are there any tours out there in the mid-Atlantic?

This swap meet is a must do for us. I included the link if anyone wants the info.
The 3rd weekend in Sept we participate in the annual Can Am Tour.
http://www.facebook.com/canamtour.tour
They do not have a website but they do have a FB page. It is a group of T's from Canada, WA, OR, that meet yearly, in a different location. 2113 will be the 35th year and will be on Vancouver Island BC.
This photo was taken at one of our stops. We were able to view a private collection. About 40 T's parked in this back yard. It was hard to decide, do you look at all the T's or the breathtaking view. The 2012 Tour was held in Bremerton WA and put on by the Kitsap Model T club.
And, yes, that is John's 27 Touring in the foreground, Mike Conrads Rajo too. It seems our T's are out most every weekend. The club we belong to is very busy. Check us out at www.carboncanyonmodelt.com Join us for a day if you are in the area.
I forgot to add, there is an article in the Nov/Dec Vintage Ford magazine regarding the 2012 tour.
Who liked the centerfold?
In 2013 we plan to be at the following:
Flywheeler Park in Florida, Feb. 20th to 23rd.
Daytona, Florida Model T Tour, March 3rd to 7th.
Iola Swap Meet & Car Show July 10th to 13th.
Kanab, Utah Model T Tour July 21st to 26th
Old Car Festival, Dearborn, Mi, Sept. 14th & 15th.
And, of course, Hershey and several local events. Maybe we'll even make it to the London to Brighton event in Minnesota in August. We'll see.
Well, Id better get started packing...
Keith
My T will be spending the winter in Crimea, Ukraine.
Come spring/summer it's likely that I will need to drive it to Holland, which is about 3000+km (1800+ miles) away.
In September there's a chance of another long trip, but I might opt for a Model A this time. The idea for the trip would be to cover 10000km (6100 miles) in 10 days or less with the possibility of freezing weather and snow along the way. By the way does anyone have a sheepskin lined leather pilot helmet they can lend me?
Happy New Year to Everyone!
i have the helmet and goggles for you. i can send picture and description. just let me or joe bell know where to send them privately.
I think I will recommend to Speedy Bill that the Speedster Tour drive through Milford, NE so we can all stop at Rob's place for a private tour and refreshments.
What is the Dearborn to Lansing tour? Might take you up on that one.
2-3 tours every month in Wisconsin, so I will lean heavily that way. Just started a new job, so I cannot get away anyhow.
in late September, why not jump on a plane and head down under for our national rally in South Australia, OR ALTERNATIVELY in 2016 to Victoria Australia ( right next door ) we're planning a great tour down here. Come drive upside down on the wrong side of the road....sound likes fun yeah !! Bring your car or maybe someone will lend you one.
Lets see if we can entice more than 3 or 4 of you.
We'll be advertising heavily after the Barossa Rally September 2013, keep an eye out for it and keep us in mind, 2016 is not that far away BUT it gives you plenty of time to plan your trip, you'll love it down here and we're sure you'll love the touring, the fellow T owners and the great social interaction that we both enjoy being Model T Ford people..

Death Valley tour first week of February. It should be warm in the valley but cold around the edges.
Norm
Airfare to Australia is currently $2100 from Chicago. Might be possible in 3 years???????
Do you need seat belts when you drive upside down on the wrong side of the road?
Dan B,
How come I am always reading about tours that are too far East for me to afford? Must be a grass is greener thing. Actually, there are a lot of great activities in Califunny, just not often near me anymore. And I am too broke for the best ones. One of the clubs I still belong to has two or three really good tours per year. But their "tour fees" for these have gotten up to as much as $500 for a three day tour! And they won't give you a final amount until after the tour, so?
David D,
Maybe by 2016 I can save up enough? That could just get me onto a plane again!
To all,
Have a Happy New Year! W2
So far I have only set up a schedule for the first few months.
Jan fly out to Merry Olde England for family business.
February tour out to Death Valley with about 20 other Model Ts
Later in Feb out to the Big 3 Swap meet in San Diego
March out to Chickasha to try to sell some of my excess stuff
Later in March out to Dallas for the MTFCA meeting to push the 2014 National Tour planned for San Diego.
I think I will rest in April....
We've been encouraged to make our "Mid-Kansas" tour an annual event. I'm not sure if any of the 23 cars and owners we had this year will show up again, but we'll give it a try. Believe it or not, we've got another 3 days worth of destinations lined up already.
Steve-if you miss Kanab in July, how about ours in September?
Wayne-This year, we had no registration fees. Next year, we may have to charge $10 per car to help cover a few of the costs. So, it can be done pretty reasonably.
More details to follow, but it will probably be the third weekend in September again.
Here's a photo from this year's tour.
Dave H, no seat belts required, just hang on.
September/October is generally the low season for flight airfares, June thru August is the high season( your summer period ).
Australia is a big land mass about the same as continental USA, that time of year ( our spring ) will be a great T touring climate, so 3 1/2years to save up, plan and come on down for a great week of touring and whilst your here, see some of our country, you may even save costs by meeting folks and staying with them, everything here is possible, just make the effort.
Read your Vintage Ford after September 2013 for more details.
David.
Virgin Australia ( partner to Virgin America ) has airfares for the 2013 period Sept thru October LAX - Melb VIC return for A$ 1609-00 = US$ 1620-00 including taxes.
So forget the more expensive airlines, jump on a Boeing 777 big wide seats and plenty of legroom.
David.
Chikasha, International tour in Kanab, UT, Hillbilly National tour. Speedster reunion in Lincoln, Lincoln Highway tour and show in Kearney, NE and whatever else I can fit in. Not necessarily in that order.
I attempt to drive one of my T's every day I can. I'm going to make a couple of shows in St Cloud and Little Falls. I hope to make as many of the summer tours each month that I can make. I'm going to be there each month with one car or the other. I'm going to pull my car on the trailer up to the North Shore of Lake Superior. I'd like to just drive it up but I can't avoid highway 61 North of Duluth and that is a four lane part way and an extremely busy road. I'm hoping to spend a week up there. I would really like to make it to Chikasha in March, but I'll have to try to make up the money I spend on my trip to arizona next week. I'd like to find some Model T stuff to do next week while I'm in Arizona. But I don't know anyone down there and I really feel easy just butting into someone elses business. So I'll probably just look around for Model T's and if I get a chance I'll say hi.
January 1st we are headed out for a day run and lunch in Tenino I think. It won't be just T's but others as well. They will be jealous of the T's however!
I realized that I will not rest in April. I hope to go to the Arizona Speedster Run, which is usually in April, so I won't rest until May...
