Neat bunch of photos, Gary. Thanks for posting them. Most are from the 1950's and I absolutely do "remember when".
The pictures must be from up North. The gas prices are pretty high for the period. I remember gas being about 20-21 cents a gallon and "gas wars" would bring it down to 17 cents a gallon. A bucks worth would get me to/from high school for more than a week plus a Saturday date.
When I was about 16 or 17 and living in So. Central Missouri on Hiway 60 east of Springfield, Mo we sold Sinclair Gas and it was about 12 to 14 cents a gallon. The first pumps were the ones with the glass bowls and the next were the hand cranked reset with the lighted glass bulbs with the name on it. BOY has things changed. Our gas prices has jumped 10cents since Christmas.
