Replacing the cracked brake drum on my '25 with an updated one with the lug shoes. The old round larger clutch plates wont work with the new drum because they wont clear the "extra" lugs in the drum. Can I just replace the larger plates with the later hex style and re-use the inner plates? Or should I replace the inners to match? The smaller plates look good to use, so I was hoping to salvage them.

They should work just fine.

Yes, I have had good luck mixing them. But, if you have the time you can grind the flats on the old round ones, being careful not to over heat them. I used a disc for a pattern and a scribe and ground to the line.

I have a used set on Ebay with the hex plates and may have one or two extra in my stash. Check them out. Used but still should work O.K.
