I got some new parts for inside rear axles, but failed to get the tool, any alternatives?
Thanks...Mike
Mike,
Where are you located? There are a lot of the tools around. I know of 3 within 30 minutes of me. All are free for the use. If you'd join a local club, I'd bet there'd even be a group to help you use them and rebuild it.

It can be done with screwdrivers and channelocks if need be, but it is MUCH easier with the tool.

I borrowed an excellent puller recently--it used a built-in crank to extract the sleeve after engaging the lube hole with a retractible rod. I'd recommend that tool, if it's available to you.
And if it is a repro, you can just lift and grab a corner with visegrips and roll it up and out like a collapsable tube. The originals won't let you get a corner up for the visegrips to get a grip they are so hard.
To the best of my knowledge they are the original ones. I didn't want to destroy them during removal, so guess I will order the tool. I just didn't want to wait a week. All them shiny new parts sitting there wanting in and I can't use them lol. I'm in Colorado Jim. Thanks for all the info.
Mike
