Is there anyone who has a 1914 runabout with original upholstery? If so, would you be able to post a picture or two? My brother just bought a car that has 1950's replacement upholstery and he wants to do it over correctly. His runabout is Canadian production, but I don't know if this makes a difference or not. Thanks for your help. John Smith, Orillia, Ontario Canada
John:
I'll try to post the pictures you want tomorrow after the camera battery has time to charge.

Hey John,
Talk to Bert Vanderwal 519-666-0815
He's got that '14 touring, and I'm pretty sure it will have the same upholstery as your friend's roadster.Bert is very knowlegeable on '14's.Let me know if I can be of further assistance in any way.Cheers!
Now l have to say l'm intrigued with these photo's of the back part of the seat., not diamond pattern but instead vertical ., where as most of the 14's l have seen have the diamond pattern like the 13's on the seat and backrest.
Can anyone shed light on this ??
Hi Marc
Thanks for posting the pictures. They will really help us get the new upholstery right.
This forum is great.

The only light I can shed is that it was probably assembled in November 1914 by the engine and body numbers. All features of the car are as expected for 1914. It has a louvered hood which I understand was seen in late 1914. It definitely had an electric horn at some point and may have had one originally as there were no screw holes for mounting the horn evident, though the hole for the tube in the firewall was present. It had no horn at all when I got it so I put a bulb horn on because I like a little extra brass.
nice old seat body though marc, l still have some remnants of the old seat material that came with the old spring seats, very hard and very brittle, yours on the other hand looks quite well preserved.
Got any other pics.
Cheers David.
Most, if not all, '14s should correctly have diamond cushions but pleated backs, as the pictures show. I believe the only exceptions would have been very early in the model year, probably those cars built in August or Sept. of 1913. This design continued until 1917 when both cushions and backs were pleated.
My '14 touring had orig front seat and back. Diamond tufted leatherette cushion, pleated leatherette back as shown in photo. My buggy was a late 1914 model (December or so). Don't forget about the leather pieces on the ends of the armrests. BTW, my hood did NOT have the louvers and still had a bulb horn as I understand was appropriate for that model year.
Here's a shot from a little further back:
One of the many things I like about this car are the unusual shocks.
It's in kind of rough shape, but you can have fun with it without fear of hurting anything important.
