How do you remove front wheel bearing races for Timken roller bearings? There dosen't seem to be any lip to punch on.

Bill, They are usually full of grease. Take an old screwdriver or a kitchen paring knife and poke around the edges. Then you'll find them. (some of the early hubs didn't have them,so be careful)

If you have a mig welder, you can make a couple of short welds (about 1/2 inch long) on the races and they will come right out!!

What will the welding do?

As long as you don't want to save the race, that works great. Welding both heats up an area and it cools quickly so the end result is a slightly smaller O.D. of the race and out it comes.

You don' need a mig welder to do the weld trick, a stick welder w/a 3/32" rod and 80-90 amps will work just as well.
