Hi all,

I am just wondering if there s any way to ADD TO or EDIT a post after it have been submitted? I have looked on the formatting section, but either it's not there or I have missed it totatlly.

I will "preview" my post (more than once even), but I still don't see the mistake until after it has been submitted.

None that I know of. I've checked too. It's a common feature on every other bbs I frequent. I miss it here. I'd settle for a delete function. It sure would help keep my foot where it belongs.

I know this product only as an end-user but I infer from http://support.discusware.com/forum/messages/305/18967.html?1075473605 that Discus Pro does have the facility to edit a post. I presume this feature would be switched on by the Administrator in the Options Manager.

It's also possible that the edit feature is version dependent. It would have been nice to add that thought to the above post :-)

There could be a potential problem with editing a post, which is not the most recent. How would the system alert the user to any or all the posts in a thread which have been modified since s/he last viewed it? Currently any new information is added to the end of a thread so it's straighforward to see it. I guess the program authors have solved this.

Actually, stepping back from the technical "how to do it?", there's good reason why editing a post should be not available: user 2 may post something which relies on what user 1 posted prior. The thread could lack proper sequencing if user 1 can change what s/he wrote.

Not if the statement was quoted.

The edit is handy to "fix" an error. Other software places a date/time stamp on the posts that were edited. Most also have an edit time limit. Such as within one hour. That would be enough time for corrections. At least you wouldn't have the forum's grammatical police on your tail.

For those that use Internet Explorer, there is a spell checker avilable for free (personal use only) from IESpell. DaGunny mentioned this a while back, and it really works well. Won't help Ken with his head and foot problems, but will make sure they are spelled right.

A bonus: it also works in the text fill in box in E-Bay when you ask the seller a question.
