In the late '60's, in a bookstore, I found a book on Model T repair it had a lot of factory memo's & service bulletins.

THere were 2 or 3 photos of, I believe, a Centerdoor that either the factory or someone had taken 2 blocks & made an 8 Cylinder engine. It had an elongated hood & frame & looked like something Edsel would have had built.

Has anyone else seen them?

Alex

A couple years ago, a fellow had an eight cylinder Model T at the Wichita Pre '45 swap meet. There were photos of it on this forum. Maybe we can find the posts and bring them up.

Very interesting. The front inlet manifold appears to be a 1909-11 dog leg style. The rear one is either a made up one or a Model NRS inlet - note it is configured opposite to a model t (mirror image).

During the 70's we visited the Ford Museum and I remember seeing a Model T V 8 motor on a stand. Yes--a V shaped block. Someone took two blocks and cut and welded them together for a V8 engine. Is it still there?

The V8 T engine was a Jensen and I last saw it at Snyder's Antique Auto. I don't think it has a Ford cylinder block due the way the manifolds come off the banks. The Ford Museum had a big auction many years ago and I'm guessing that's how Don Snyder acquired it. The V8 makes for a tight fit, the left hand head has a relief for the steering column.

I would be really interested in how the engines are connected on the twin ford speedster. I keep thinking about building one.

Andy, If you look closely there is a chain at the old flyweel / timing gear location which could be something like a Browning Morse chain coupling like the illustration below:
