Is there a good way to attach carpet to the floor boards on a 27 coupe? I have the orginal wool type carpet which is quite thick. It tends to slide around a little while driving. I still want to be able to pull the boards out when necessary.
I attached my carpet to the floor board of my 1926 coupe with snap fasteners. the male portion has wood threads that screw into the floorboard and the female portion is fastened through the carpet. The carpet should be put in place, then pulled tight and holes punched through with nails at four corners through the carpet into the floorboard. Then install the snaps.
Click onto www.mcmaster.com and type in 3151 in the box, That will take you to page 3151 of the snap fasteners. Scroll down the page to familiarize yourself with the various types. Jim
A word of caution though. You will get hooked on McMasters' offerings and be eternally in debt. So don't go beyond the pages for snap fasteners. Just remember; I warned you.
You can buy a small package at the hardware store, which is more than enough to do that job and save a bunch on shipping and having to buy a larger quantity.
I used indoor/outdoor carpet and glued it to the boards and trimmed the overhang with a Exacto knife,it looks and fits good and doesn't slide. The carpet i bought from a vendor wouldn't fit.

26 coupe.
Wayne,
You may want to try Velcro tape.

May I suggest two ideas?
The first is that my '26 Coupe has press-stud fasteners rivetted to the steel side frames which are apparently there to hold a carpet. I had assumed these were fitted by Ford (they look very old).
But I glued my modern made-up carpet to a thick layer of fairly rigid underfelt. By the time it's been manoeuvered over the pedals, brake and choke it is not going anywhere!
