Well the old girl is coming right along, into it for about $750 so far with another $300 or so that I know of that I'm gonna end up spending. (Which doesn't include the new tires I want to get) Painted up some things tonight, got the Anderson Timer installed along with the new crankshaft pulley. Khuyen my girlfriend helped me prep some of the parts and was a sweetheart and polished up some of the brass. Radiator is off, and all new hoses and clamps were purchased today. Made installing the timer and crankshaft puller easier, plus this makes it easier to give the old radiator a good ol' polishing.

Anyway, here's some update pics---still some ways to go as I haven't been brave enough to start putting the hogs head back together. Rebuilt carb and new brass pulley should be in my hands by early next week.

Chris.

Manifold all painted up. Ford Semi-Gloss black engine enamel, not sure if its correct color or not, but she looks purdy.

Great looking car Chris. Keep us updated on your progress. What is the history behind the car?

Vince

Vince,
The car has been in the family for over 35 yrs. My great grandfather purchased it in 1973, to go along with a 20 something T roadster, Model A and Willys Knight he had. The car was a '15 and he was born in '15, so I think that is why he got it. He picked it up in a barn in Missouri, it was in boxes and all disassembled and missing front fenders and a radiator but otherwise complete. From what I have gathered the fenders are reproduction and the radiator was NOS. I need to meet with my great grandfather now 91, and see if he has some before and after restoration pictures.

Anyways, my grandparents bought it off my great grandfather in the late 70's. I was raised by my grandparents and when my grandfather passed away in 2001 when I was 21, I inherited it. I drove it maybe once before he passed away and had never worked on it. I was always around it growing up, but never payed attention to the mechanics of it or what my grandfather did to maintain her.

Fastforward to 2007, I am now 27, have a bit of extra money (I'm still in college--went back at the age of 25, but have a coop job that pays decent) Never really jumped into getting her back on the road as I was always afraid of breaking something, but for some reason this year, I jumped right into, figured its just a T, can't be to hard to work on, lol.

So with the assistance of a great local T club and my wonderful girlfriend hopefully I'll be up and running in a month or so. I've driven her maybe 6 times a total of maybe 5 miles, and all when she has been running less than ideal, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she will run when I am done.

Chris, you're lucky. I was 54 when I got my first (and only) T, so I missed 27 years that you still have ahead of you. I have heard it said that driving a Model T is the most fun you can have with clothes on....

Driving with clothes on? I might have to try that. I thought the looks and waves were for the car?

Chris.. Looks great. Mine had a partial restoration done in the late 70's by the second owner. My grandfather bought it from him in '81, and disassembled it. After he passed away in '99, my dad reassembled it, to see what was missing, and it was never touched again.

I've got her partially disassembled right now. But should have her running in a couple of weeks.

Question: Are you still 6V, running off a magneto? I noticed your harness is different than mine?

Michael,

We've always ran a 12volt motorcycle battery under the front seat for starting and then switched to mag.

Your picture above, is that how your '15 looks partially assembled?

Chris

Chris,

It's fully assembled now. The picture above was taken in Oct. '06 when the sun peaked out for a few hours. The partial restoration was done by the second owner in the early 70's. New top, paint, had the wheels done. I'm told that I need the 'white' tires to keep it original, but I'm kind of a sucker for the black.

the seats and interior wood and panels are all original, original brass (except the mirror), original glass, lamps, etc..

It was built at the 1915 World's Fair in San Francisco. Henry Ford moved production equipment there, and as a display, they would make cars for 3 hours each day. 4,400 cars were manufactured over the course of the fair. My grandfather told me that, long before there was an internet. I found the following link that supports his claims. When we found the vehicle, disassembled in shed, there was a box of trophies (18 in all) for this car. I'm lucky to have it, it's in great shape.

Its got to be great having some detailed history on your car. I have very little on mine - maybe someday i will attempt a little research.

Great looking cars!

Vince
