Hi Guys,
Does anyone remanufacture AC Brakes?
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks
Brent

Define remanufacture please. Do you have a set that needs work, or are you looking for repops?

As far as I know, Dan McEachern is still reproducing AC brakes for the small drum rear ends. He's located in Alameda, CA and his email address is dmcgears@yahoo.com and phone # is (510) 532-8228 (shop phone).

Sorry,
I mean reproduce, not remanufacture.
Thanks

I read on a forum that Dan McEachern stopped selling the repro AC brakes due to liability concerns.

That is correct. I tried to buy a full set myself but with no luck. However, he might sell the controlling linkages though. Kind of ironic, huh? Here is something that will make a vehicle safer but because of too many lawsuit hungry people who do not want to take responsibility for their own actions/decisions, there are now too many ambulance chasing lawyers who are now bogging down the entire capitalist system of commerce with red tape and legal liabilities to the point that good honest businessmen have good products sitting on their shelves that they can not sell because potential customers with no brains or no scruples will possibly screw something up and take legal action !! (apologies for the grammar but the content is there)

I agree with Ed. Our whole system need's change. Thing's need to be overhauled when someone can sue McDonald's because their coffee is hot.

The other night I had some ice cream that was really cold. Do I have a case?

Our legal system places penaltie's on logical thinking people and reward's the ignorant.

Hopefully Dan can find a way over the legal hurdle and market his product in the future.

Steve

I wish someone would make the old Rocky Mountains again. At least they stop you backing up.

I have a ladder that is too tall. So tall, in fact, that I could actually get hurt if I fell off it. Sad thing is, if I did and sued the manufacturer, chances are, I'd win. What a sad commentary on our society. How about the Judge that tried to sue a his dry cleaners for $65,000,000.00 for losing a pair of his pants. Thanks to the legal profession for skyrocketing insurance rates and Medical costs spiraling into the stratosphere. Jim

It is sad. I have a Fat man steering wheel that could be easily reproduced. There are alot of people who would like one. The ONLY reason I haven't is the liability issue.

There could be a solution for some of these things. I have thought about making front wheel brakes first for my own use and perhaps to sell. The solution may be to set up a Mexican marketing company. Mexican civil law is much less sympathetic to silly lawsuits. As I already own a Mexican company I will look into it next time I am down there. The problem here is trying to buy insurance. Certainly the possibility of being sued by old car people is relatively small, but the insurance companies owe it to their shareholders to err on the side of caution.

Brent if your interested in The small drum outside brakes you can get the Bennetts from Chaffin's in Corona, Ca. They work well also in reverse.
