Are all of the cars suppoosed to actually have a battery box, and if so, what is correct for a 24 coupe? Mine has no box, just the strap type carrier.

As far as I know they all had a box John.

Mine has the sides folded as one piece, lap join on one corner, with a 1/2" lip around the bottom. The flat panel that drops in and sits on this lip has two 1/2" wide strips on each side, formed by cutting the panel itself. These strips are bent down, the panel dropped in the box and then they're bent back flat to keep it there.

Now to really bend your head, go and find an original battery box lid complete with the removable inspection door.

Good luck on that last part;)

I have a complete original, and a repro from Langs. They are hard to tell apart. I only wish that they sold the bottoms separately. The tops are easy to find. I have an Optima 6 volt battery that fits very nice inside on an angle. All you need to do is to raise it up with a piece of plywood to bring the terminals to the proper height.
