Just to keep a little "balance" while we hammer our vendors for poor quality products, heres an item I found which really makes your life easier: Snyders sells a "carb mount kit" consisting of two LONGER mounting bolts which work nicely, especially on the early cars, for easy carb mounting, where its almost impossible to get a tool on the nuts or bolt heads. They are a bit expensive ($18.95) but work great and eliminated all my "custom made tools" for bolt and nut removal. I don`t know if these are carried by other vendors but I would certainly reccommend them----Paul
Good point Paul,
I have a specially turned down socket for this job but it is still a pain in th backside! I don't know what they look like but would a long tubular nut acomplish the same thing??
Cheers
Ford made a specific double-end socket wrench for this application. One end for the hard to reach carb. nut and the other for the generator bolts.
I use a what I think is called a crow's foot wrench on the end of my ratchet's extention. I think I found the trick in one of the tinkering tips books. Although the improved bolts would be cheaper...
