HELP I am in the middle of pulling my gas tank out for cleaning - I have removed the straps and over-flow.
Disconnected the wiring and key switch.
Do I need to remover the dash panel as I just can't seem to find that extra half 1/2" of space to drop the tank. An help greatly appreciated.

Page 279, Paragraph 1231 of the Ford Service manual describes the tank removal. It involves loosening the brake and reverse bands so the pedals can be moved forward all the way.

Be sure to disconnect the battery!

I just took some pics of the pages in case you couldn't find the manual. They aren't the best "print quality" but they are readable. Glad you found your the book.

Yes, it is a PITA. You may need help to get the sediment bulb flange to clear the firewall while the tank is moved back and forth.

Ken - I finally got the tank out - followed instructions which worked - but the shake and wiggle part took one heck of a long time to find the magic spot. More luck than anything. I will have the tank boiled tomorrow and coated on Tuesday - with any kind of long I will be up n driving this weekend.
Thanks for the tips.
