what is the best way to mask off or cover the tires when painting wheels that have tires mounted. Is there any special tape that will stick well to rubber ? I don't want to have to remove my tires but I don't want to end up with with painted tires either. All suggestions much appreciated

Not many tapes stick to rubber tires because of the silicone treatments. It takes a lot of solvent cleaning to get tape to stick. It also takes a lot of tape.

I've found it easier to make a two-piece mask from poster board and tape that together. You'll need at least two sheets to make a mask large enough for a T wheel.

If you air down the tire and then use 2 inch tape. Apply it around the rim and then air the tire back up and run another row around that tape is the easiest. Or use Ken's method intead of tape with the tire aired down.

Pull a Earl Shib trick.Vasoline on the tires!:>)
No I aint never done it so I cant say if it works or not.
The solvents that clean the rubber good enough for tape to stick also take vital chemicals out of the rubber which may lead to premature cracking.
I would suggjest deflate the tire, push down around the bead while placeing thin cardboard between the rim and tire and inflate, paint, deflate, remove.Index cards is what alot of us garden tractor restoreers use.
I know I cant spell.Haveing a bad day with dizzyness and confusion but I am going to keep trying
