Years ago i acquired a prestolite tank from Eric edwards for a '13 project that has been stalled for way to long, now its on track for next spring completition. I took my tank to my welding supply and they had about a half dozen of them similar but had the script running in various directions and with and without brass ID tags at the top. Which is correct for '13 ? There was no problem in getting mine filld but I left it there as they said a better looking one might show up if I wasn't in a hurry! Also need brackets, can I use wooden cradles or are they steel or ?
The originals I had were steel, copper plated and had "Prestolite" script.
In addition to the strap type Jack describes, there were some cast brackets as well.
Thanks for the pictures.. in the picture it appears that the tank is quite short as its about same length as the door ? What I have is about 2 ft as I recall ( its at the welding supply) and has raised script. It was apowdery white/gray which sure appears to have been galvanized? Should I bead blast and paint this tank black ? Or did I buyt the wrong tank ???
Does anyone have a set of Prest-o-lite tank brackets that they are willing to sell to me? I need a pair for my current project.
Peter.
I have a prestolite system and several weeks ago I needed some help on how to use it. I got great suggestions from several of you guys on how to hook up my prestolite system. After hooking it up, I promised to post a picture of it so I hope it shows enough for you to see. Mine uses the straps instead of the cast brackets. Wish I had extras and could help you.
