There's a pretty cool trailer made from a 26/27 running gear on eBay. Rear end is a Ruckstell, no shift lock or drive shaft but it looks like it's been capped. Really neat accessory trailer kit for the front end, looks like the front will steer. It's on the wrong coast for me. Too bad, I'd love to have the trailer kit!!!!

I'll bet there's no unit in the Ruckstell housing. Never know unless you could get the guy to take the plate off and look. Just the housing is worth $3-450.

Is it built off a car chassis or TT? I'd love to have a big drum Ruckstell for my truck.

If you read the small print it actually says the item is in Pennsylvania.

you're right, Tom. Probably the seller is in WV but it says the item is in Meyersville, PA. Looks to be about 25 miles east / northeast of Brandonville, WV, just a few miles north of the Maryland border. I'd love to make a chasis trailer with that front axle setup.

John,

Thank you for the offer but unfortunately it won't work. I'm building a truck on a car chassis.

In answer to a question. I've seen a couple of them where the Ruckstell unit is gone and the inside is just a standard differential unit to hold the axles together -- no bearing on the Ruckstell side. The wheels keep it from going too far in or out since there is nothing inside to keep it centered.

Several years ago a guy came to buy a Ruckstell from me for his brother in Utah. I refused to take the $250 less for it that he offered so he went to Portland to the swap meet and bought one for what they wanted to pay. When they got it down to Utah and tore it apart there was no Ruckstell unit in it. They paid $600 for a housing and a worn out shift lock. Then they came back and paid the $1000 that I wanted for one. I loved it.

From the book of Revelation, chapter 20:

[13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
[14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
[15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Just something for all of us to keep in mind next time there's an opportunity to make a quick buck at someone else's expense. Not directed at you personally Stan, I know where you're coming from.

Craig

Guess I didn't go to enough Bible school when I was a kid, I fail to see what that has to do with a guy screwing himself on a Ruckstell.

If you find any complete, working Ruckstells with a long nose shift lock, good housings and backing plates for less than a grand, give me a call. I only have 7 or 8 right now and a couple of them are spoken for. I don't think I was making a "quick buck."

I don't quote the Bible but I think somewhere in there it says, "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord," or something like that.
