Put my rebuilt carb back on my 26 TT. Thanks for the tips and help.
It took awhile to get the engine running. It still seems like it is not firing on front cylinder. I have put in new sparks plugs, new rebuilt coils. While truck was running, I took plug wire off #1 plug. It did not affect the way truck was running. Lots of spark when I held wire to top of plug. I removed plug, there was fuel on plug (wet). I have new valves and seats. When I installed the crank. I lined timing marks according to Ford service book. (Double & Triple checked) Getting frustrated, Don't know what to check next.

Dave, Switch the #1 and #2 spark plugs and see if the problem moves from the #1 cylinder to the #2 cylinder or stays at the #1 cylinder. At least that way you will know if it is the spark plug that is not working properly......Michael Pawelek

Swap the #1 plug with another one and see if it's a cylinder issue or a plug issue. If the plug you took out of # 1 is missing in the new cylinder then it's the plug. If the #1 cylinder still isn't firing, then you need to do a compression check.

Michael, I tried changing plugs the other day. And had the same result. When I took the wire off of the #1 plug today, it almost seemed that it ran smoother.

You mentioned that you installed new valves and seats. Do you have compression in #1? Maybe one of these valves is not sealing.

Did you try switching coils and see if the trouble goes to the cylinder to which you placed #1 coil? Are the wires on the timer in the order 1,2,4,3? Is the timer clean and all wires have good insulation and are not grounded to a bolt under the timer? Are the contacts in the coil box good and making connection with the coils? Do you have a carbon path burned into the wood of the coil box? (you should not) When you raise the hood at night with all lights off and engine running, do you see sparks jumping all around the coil box or high tension wires to the spark plugs? (you should not) Etc. Keep checking things and substuting known good parts until you narrow it down to one. Do not assume that the coils are good if they are rebuilt. The proof is in whether they work in your car.

Thank you for all your help. Took a look at the compression problem. Found I had a sticking exhaust valve in #1 cylinder. Appeared the spring was hanging up. Rotated the spring, and does not hang up anymore. Can't wait to get off of work today and give her a try.
