I finally was able to get my 26 tt running on all four cyl.,(stuck valve) This is the first time I have had it running. It seems to be running Hot. Had the radiator flushed out. Fan works. No water pump. Radiator boiled over after approx. 5 min. of driving. Boiled cap right off, the cap is loose. I need to get a tighter cap. But do these caps seal? Also, how do you know if the water is circulating in cooling system? Top of radiator was very hot. Inlet tube at bottom of radiator was cold. Head seems to be quite hot to touch.

Sounds like you need to flush the engine as well. Try a search on the forum because I believe it's been posted before and I never had to do it myself.

Dave. A couple of quick thoughts. How full are you filling the radiator as a T likes it full to just above the core tubes. If you have it to full it will find its own level and boil out what is not wanted. There is a gasket to fit under the rad cap. It is item 3927 for .20 cents in Lang's catalog (available at all vendors). The hot water from the motor enters the top of the radiator, flows down while cooling and exits the radiator from the bottom back to the motor. Also, run your T with the spark open where it feels good. To far of a retarded spark will be another cause for over heating. Happy T'ing. Dave.

Dave.
Replacing the cap might help. If not, replace the radiator neck. They are all available at the dealers. If you cannot replace the neck yourself, any radiator shop can do for you. Good luck

Hot top hose and cold bottom hose can mean the radiator is doing it's job and cooling the water as if flows from top to bottom. It can also can mean that the radiator is clogged.

Put a gasket or two in the cap, then tighten it. It's not a "pressure cap" since the system isn't sealed, but it shouldn't leak.

It's easy to cut your own gasket from an old inner tube.
