Here's a picture of a replacement choke return spring. Part number T-6218. It's supposed to fit NH carbs. The problem is that the spring is too small in diameter and too thick in wire size. It barely fits over the choke shaft. IF you can even mount it, there's not enough "spring" so there's no movement allowed in the butterfly.

Save your $1.30 and use an original or make your own. This is another one of the Useless replacement parts made available to Model T folks.

Choke Return Spring

Ken
I got my choke springs from Langs and they fit just fine. It is the same gauge wire as my old one. Where did you get yours? Leon

I don't even have one on my TT, Ken. I started to order one when I rebuilt the carb, but I kinda like it staying where I put it until I get ready to put it somewhere else. I don't like big brother looking over my shoulder, and when I pull the choke I want it to stay pulled until I get ready to un-pull it!

Good to know there's no reason to order one anyway! Thanks
Ray

This one came from Snyder's. It's good to know that there are some good springs out there. The package said "Made in U.S.A.". The "051607/CB" on the package must be some batch date. This batch ain't worth a hoot!

I bought a couple choke return springs from Lang's in the past 6 months and they were perfect. Just like originals.

Mine on our 13 broke, and like Ray, I just left it off. In our cold temps it works well not having it, I can leave the choke a few seconds where it is, as I stomp my feet and try to stay warm. Then push it on in, and go.

I'll buy one at some point. A note, I have had great luck with Snyder's. I bet if you call, they'll send you one at no cost.
Rob

Just yesterday I installed one from Lang's on a simmons. Takes three horse's and a little boy to pull it back, it works great.

Call Snyders this morning and let them know.I have had good luck with them on parts as well.

I did have a little trouble with the carb adjusting rod I got from them but it was my fault so I cant blame them.It broke when i tried to bend it to get it through the dash.

Or if (like I've seen once or twice) you hang an old spark/big nut/rod cap from the lower hole on the arm... I reckon Henry would approve of a gravity operated choke return:-)

Ken, I think we all run across these things from time to time. However, Snyders has always been willing to do whatever they needed to do to resolve the issue and insure it does not happen again. I would suggest giving them a quick call and I am certain they will resolve the issue quickly.
