I,m painting a 23 engine for my speedster. What colour is the engine normally?
Either unpainted or with a thin coat of shiny black paint.
Dave's spelling leads me to believe that he's dealing with a Walkerville (Canadian) T- same story?
Same story.
A speedster engine could be any colour you want. Fire engine red or highway yellow would look nice in a speedster.
Model A engine green with yellow trim doesn't look too all that shabby either.
Looks good!!
Thanks Ken!
Seth is the light mounted under the hood?
Any color you like works on a speedster.
Yes, two of them. One in each hood radius with the bulb filament about 3" from the firewall.
I asked the same question of some of the local club members. Here is how they explained to to me. Pre-'26 the engines came through totally unpainted. There were installed in the cars with usually some surface rust. To imulate that look, but avoid the rusty look, most everybody in the club paints their engines a sorta flat metalic dark gray heat resistant color to look like unfinished cast iron. They then paint attached items such as valve cover, water inlets, etc. gloss black. The pan is also painted gloss black. That is just the way they choose to do it, so that is what I did.
