How is the filter screen retained inside the bulb? Thanks, Galen.

The filter screen is soldered into the screw in outlet. The bulb is just a retainer for water and dirt. You need to unscrew the outlet, which can be very hard, install the screen and solder in place. the reinstall the outlet with a new lead gasket.

Hope this helps.

It is crimped on. To replace it you solder the new sceen in. I clean it really good then get a thin layer of solder on the bulb. Then lay the screen on it with flux and gently heat the solder until the screen "sinks" into the solder. Keep the flame away from the screen as it will melt very easily. Heat the edge of the bulb from the side.

Steve and Mike, Thanks guys. I have the outlet unscrewed and cleaned up what was left of the old screen. No evidence of solder on it.Again thanks, Galen
