Does anyone have any information on this conference which is going to be held on July 17-19 in Dearborn and Detroit. I have much of the information, but there are no specific locations or timetables yet, or where the initial meeting is going to be.

The World of the Model T Conference will open on Thursday, July 17, 2008, with an evening reception and tours of the home, power house and gardens at Fair Lane, Henry Ford's estate.

Friday, July 18, will be spent in Detroit and surrounding areas. The morning at the Piquette Avenue Plant, where the Model T was developed and launched, will include a keynote address, tours of the facility and cars on display, and lunch. The afternoon bus tour will take participants to Ford's Highland Park Plant, The Edsel and Eleanor Ford Home (Gaukler Point) in Grosse Pointe Shores, and a drive through Ford's River Rouge Complex.

Saturday, July 19, will be spent at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. The day will include four sessions of papers on the Model T, a lunch with a Ragtime piano performance, behind-the-scenes-tours (Model T Garage, The Benson Ford Research Center) and a conlcuding banquet and keynote address in the Pavilion in Greenfield Village. The keynote address will be on Norval Hawkins, the man who helped Henry Ford and the others develop the innovations and concepts that made the Model T the world changing car it became.


Registration
Full registration fee includes two days of speakers, panels, bus tour, behid-the-scenes tours, the opening reception, breakfast, two lunches, the concluding banquet and admission to Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.

Full registration is $225 and is due by July 3. There is an early bird discounted registration of $195 if sent in before June 16.

One day registration - Friday or Saturday - is $125 and is due by July 3.

On site registration is not available, and the number of participants is limited.


Travel and Housing
Dearborn is about fifteen minutes east of Detroit Wayne County metro Airport, a major airport and Northwest Airlines hub. Two Dearborn hotels are offering rooms with reduced rates to conference participants:

1. The Dearborn Inn, built by Henry Ford to serve Ford Field airport - now the Ford Test Track - and likely the first sirport hotel, is an easy five minute walk from the entrance to Greenfield Village.

2. The Best Western Greenfield Inn, known locally as the "Pink Palace," is about two miles away.
