How many videos did Vince make?
1. Two Man Top Install
2. Affixing Wood Bows to Sockets
3. Open Car Interior Installation
4. One-man Top
I have two of his: Installing a Leather Tufted Interior and the Open Car Top Installation. Both were very well done and extremely helpful.
I miss Vince.
I would like to borrow the "One Man Top" installation video from someone. Can anyone help?
I promise a safe and timely return after I've viewed it a couple of times.
Happy New Year,

Rick, Do you think the Open Car Top is the same as the One Man? I used this on my Torpedo.
You can send me your address if you'd like to borrow mine. Remember it comes in one of those big plactic cases I think they used to call it a VHS or something like that.
The One Man Top video by Vince is on the Improved Car touring top.
I used to have a VHS copy of that, loaned it, with promise it would be sent back....
Nope, the lendee stiffed this lendor.
Hi Gene: Thanks for your kind offer, but I'm working on my '23 touring car. (I wish I had a Torpedo.)
Dan: Sorry to hear of your misfortune. But perhaps you should take up your grievance with the schmuck who took advantage of you, rather than venting here. I don't like being linked (however inadvertently) with the criminal classes.
Sincerely,

Sorry if your feelings got hurt, shouldn't have. Wasn't an intention, perhaps the perp is lurking and will have a New Years resolution to return it, so to have good conscious for 2013. That was all I meant to do
Didn't record the name or address of the person I sent it to, and must have deleted the email too, so its my dumb fault a bit. Still...venting is good for the soul sometimes.
Did post what that tape covers, its for the one man, '26-'27 touring car, that was a help for you anyway.
Vince did nice work, have one of his tops, and the video is real handy to review the how-to.
The One Man top is for a touring. He states in the video that it is for 25-27.
Gene
Can you look at yours and see if the Open Top appears to be the same?
Thank you.
When I ordered an upholstery kit from Vince for my '14 runabout and a VHS tape, he sent me a tape where he was installing upholstery in a '24-'25 touring. Was very helpful; miss him too because he very quickly answered my many emails requesting clarification.
Hi Dan:
No harm done; thanks for the explanation. Hopefully the miscreant will return your stuff.
A couple of other forum guys have offered to loan me the video, so I think I'm all set now.
Thanks to all and Happy New Year!

Seems to me these videos shouldn't get lost. Is there any way to save copies for posterity?
Phil
P Jamison, You're right, It would be a shame to lose the work that Vince did on these.
I received two requests for the videos.
Dave very graciously offered to put the two I have on DVD format. I'll send them off to him when I return home. Thanks Dave!
Herb, you didn't post on this thread but sent me an email and may see this. I'll get back to you as well with the DVD's after Dave returns them.
With the permission of the estate, they could be duplicated in CD format, any proceeds going to the estate, the MTFCA, the museum, or whatever. There is a duplicating place near me, and I could finance it. Conversely, they could be posted on YouTube (which I could do as well). I don't know the parties involved, however. Perhaps some of our readers do. Any interest?

I checked into this and found the following: After Vince died his family tried to carry on the business, but the boys both have regular jobs and it was just too much. That's why the phone number is no longer in service. Vince was the only one who had access to the video masters, and they are lost. Don't expect any reissues.
If I had any of these videos I'd be very reluctant to lend them out. I'd make a DVD copy for a friend in need of one. If I couldn't figure out how, I'd have a kid do it.
Did Vince or the JV Group ever make any videos for installing the interior of a closed car? I have only found his video for an open car.
Sending off my two videos to Dave today.
Thanks Dave!
Any more videos out there? Vince only did 5?
Thank you.

I'm still looking to get my hands on a copy of the video for a 21' touring top. We ordered the top from Vince and it promptly sat in the garage for a few years. A while back we finally got around to attempting it but lo and behold, the DVD freezes about halfway through it. I've tried it on numerous dvd players and computers and have been unable to get to the second half of the video. And of course, Vince passed away in the interim.
So, if anyone has the video that would cover that top, I'd love to borrow it. I like to think I'm pretty reputable, and you could always track me down through the folks of the Midwest Chapter of the MTFCI. ;)
Would anyone be interested in preserving the JV Group videos? I contacted Chris Ritter the AACA Librarian about them, and received the response quoted below. The AACA Library can transfer the VHS tapes to digital media and make them available to anyone. This would also preserve these videos for the future. It would be a shame to lose this resource. I can guarantee the safety and safe return of loaned tapes (or the Library can purchase your tape/s). As a bonus, lenders will get a free DVD copy of their tape. If anyone wants to help by lending a tape (or tapes), please contact Chris.

"The videos you mention could be nice additions to our collections. We can easily convert VHS to digital format too.
If you can arrange to have copies loaned to us for digitization we can do that. If the library will need to purchase them I will need some cost details."
Thanks,

I spoke with Joyce Iaccino last month. The estate is not yet settled and she does not want to discuss the rights to the videos at this time. She asked me to contact her later this year. I will respect her wishes.
I have a copy of Centerdoor volume 1and 2 installing seat upholstery, headliner and interior panels. Helped when I installed mine.

The AACA Library deal is not for the "rights" to these videos. The videos will be preserved in the Library just as their thousands of books and other car-related items are. They will be available to view and borrow into the future long after we are gone, but copyright would not be affected.
I hope folks will consider lending their videos for digitizing.
Phil
Maybe a copyright attorney will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a library lending videos already sold by the Iaccinos would be legally kosher, but copying them for other than individual personal use wouldn't.
I am surprised Mr. Ritter from the AACA would make any statement like that. If true, he will have the FBI knocking on his door. They take copyrights very seriously. We had a fire chief in ohio involved in a similar scheme with training tapes, and they did knock on his door. It cost him ( the town) plenty of money and he nearly went to jail over it.
The Iaccino's own the rights to these. It is fine to loan a tape out, as long as it is the original tape.
The VHS format is fast fading (literally and figuratively), hence my idea to convert the tapes to digital formatting. Since the tapes are no longer sold and the masters no longer exist, the idea is to preserve them for the future, not to sell or profit from them.
Phil
