Ive never liked setting the gap on a model T transmission because of lifting the tran on and off. I found this hoist for sale on ebay for $170.00 delivered to my door. The rest of the steel to set it in the ground it a steel sleeve cost $80. So the total for the whole thing was about $250.00. The hoist has a 1000 lb limit.
Very nice !
That is candy to the eyes, seeing the early magnets, I bet not everyone caught that one!
That post needs hub adapters so you can do tire installation on it.
I got tired of lifting the trans assemblies also. I started setting the gap with just the flywheel assy. and input shaft. I mark all the parts after getting things set and once the trans is assembled, I line the marks back up on everything and bolt it back to the crank.
You wouldn't need that crane that will be in the way 99.9% of the time if you got rid of the magnets and all the extra weight in the flywheel...
Ralph, the crane is easily removable, and if i got rid of the magnets and extra weight on the flywheel, then i would have a model T. Why not just buy a pinto?
"..then i would have a model T.."
See "Model T in Speed and Sport" and "Model T Speed Secrets."

all have a place in the hobby, I believe.
Kim I have a neighbor in exactly the same situation as yourself. He'll probably retire when he can't fit into the shop anymore! I recently sold a 1940's Walker-Turner band saw he desperately wanted. He just couldn't jockey the stuff around enough to fit it in.
