Not enough pictures and condition of car at the beginning of this project has left me at a loss on a couple parts. One is the brackets pictured. Can anyone help me with where they go?
The other is the wood pieces labeled "front seat side" left and right. The front seat was not attached when I got the car and the body wood as pictured on Cubel's website does not show it. How does this fit in or does it?
second try on the pictures
Dale, the top picture is of the front seat pan bulkheads. They attach to tabs on the front seat riser. The lower picture is the very rear sill frame brackets. They mount from the underside and the vertical bracket bolts to the rear seat riser. Hear are some pic's.
The wood pieces go on both sides of the gas tank and form a small compartment that you can use to carry a tool kit etc. It is over 20 years since I restored our 1924 Fordor and I can't remember the brackets you have posted. The 1926-27 Fordor had some differences to the earlier Fordor Sedans. They obviously bolt up with some coach bolts. ( The Square Holes )
Also, on the front seat bulkheads, you should have two straight wood pieces for mounting the bulkhead to the frame sills. They screw to the side on the bottom and then to the floor. Size is aprox 1 1/4" X 3/4" X the length of the bulkhead. The mounts lay flat and are on the outward side of the bulkheads.
the thick cardboard gas tank cover goes on top of these boards and gets nailed to them on the ends.
Jim, Don, Tom, Thank you for the pics, this is a great help. If any of you have, could you post a picture of the back of the front seat, especially showing how the seat back and base fit together. Is there a tack rail across the top and bottom of this seat back? Is there wood in the top of the seat riser?
Tom: Do you have a picture of that thick cardboard in place?? Thanks, JP
I don't. At least not yet. There are several photos on the forum that do show it though.
Oh,oh..Dale, I posted on the wrong post the pictures of the tack strips...look at 27 Fordor Owners....too many chemical fumes in the barn today. sorry ~~~
Jack, here is a picture of the cardboard in place on my 24 Fordor
Don, again, Thank you, I located the pictures on the other thread. Seems that the 26-27 Fordor is actually popular at this time--at least three in the works to be on the road in the near future!
I am doing a 25 fordor and was not aware of the cardboard under the seat. Thank you JP
