I'd say Steve are referring to the distributor and 12V alternator Mike. I can understand the need for the aftermarket fender braces "back in the day" but I think they take away from the appearance of the car.

Don't know if it's a good buy or not. It hasn't hit the reserve and we don't know what that is.

In general I don't like the aftermarket stuff but I don't have a problem with the fender braces on that particular car. He says he has a photo of the car from 1942 which has them on it. If there is documentation that it is the same car, then they are part of the history of the car.

Be interesting to see what the reserve is. I would bet it is way higher than the current bid or at least it should be with the appearance of the condition of that car.

They sure look better from the side with the molded in trunk. That turtle trunk always looked like some one though of a way to fill some extra space to me.

This is a Coupe thats been kept in great shape over time and 'improvements' added here and there.
Some people add to much to a good T and this one is a little to much to me as far as the improvments.
But thats just my opinion.

If I wanted a car with improvements I would get a Model A. At least they didnt try putting a Pinto engine in it.

I prefer the look of the earlier and more primitive coupe. However, I also like my '24 coupe that is like this one. This one is a lot like mine, just one year newer. About as much era accessories. This one, the paint and upholstery are somewhat nicer, but mine is getting better little by little. I will be curious to see where the bidding goes.

That coupe looks darn good to me. It looks like it has a two speed rear end, that adds one thousand or more to the value.
That alternator might not be correct, but when you price the repair cost on a generator, it can be $300 or more. You can buy an alternator for half that and it works a lot better on maintaining the battery.

I ran my speedster about 6 years with no generator due to cost of repair.
When I sold it I had it rebuilt and a new diode in the cutout & everything even then it was over $200.
I bought a rebuilt alternator from a local rebuilder this year for $80 out the door no exchange. I put it on an old MG that would have needed a regulator besides the genny. Works great!
I have had a small alternator on my '26 touring parade & occasional tour car since '97 and when I fire it up after it has not been run from Vet's Day (Nov 11) to July 4th it does not take long to get the battery up to full charge and I never have to monkey around with battery chargers.
With heater fan on and the head lights on with two tail lights it is still charging a little on the plus side at a high idle.
When you get into 100% correct cars then you're talking a different story. For have-fun car...eh.
I think at anything under $6000 that coupe is a hell of a deal. Some would be starting the bids at around $12,000.
I looked at one in San Jose for a forum reader last year that was going for wayyyy more and it was painted and uphostered over junk. Looked terrible.
