I have heard from a few guys on some places to check, but if anyone happens to have a pair of valve covers or knows where I can find them I would really love to know. I know someone made repros at some point. Any ideas?

I was over at Chaffen's 2 months ago and they had some stuff like that. Might give'em a call.

Les, I also have an 8 valve and those are stamped steel, but the 16 valve has cast aluminum covers. Attached is a pic from speedy Bill Smiths collection showing what the valve covers are supposed to look like. George and Dan, I will try and get a hold of those you mention. I will try Chaffins first, and if that fails I will try Mike Bender.

The covers on Speedy engine are polished for show.
They were a casting finish. If there was enough interest I know who has the patterns and maybe another run could be made. Send me an email if interested and I will contact the owner of the molds. tman1913@sbcglobal.net

Did you reproduce the exhaust for the Roof type B and BB. I was asked a while back and wasn't sure.

That would be great if we can get enough interest for another run. Anyone out there that is interested please contact Mike.

I could use a set. I'm also looking for an original intake manifold for a BB.

John, I have an original intake for a Model B RAJO, guess it's different from the BB, though.. (+ high shipping costs for cast iron stuff over the atlantic.. :-( )

Hi Rodger,
Thank you, but this is the Roof BB. I truly appreciate the offer though.

In regards to the Roof 16 valve, what I made was the "cross pipe" and the " dog leg" down pipe to the stock exhaust pipe. The exhaust manifold seems to have survived a little better so I did not bother with it. I am not home right now so I can't check, but I may have a set of the other parts on the shelf.
The exhaust manifold pictured is NOT what I worked with.
If I could borrow a valve cover I could make patterns and get some of these covers cast. No harm would be done to the original. It would NOT be used in the casting process but only to ensure all the details are right on the pattern. Trying to use a original cover as a pattern would produce copies that were smaller in every dimension. So the pattern has to be made just a bit bigger than what you want the casting to be.
Intake manifold;
One of these days I will make a intake manifold pattern from pictures. Again these seem to be extremely rare. Of course if a person could borrow one it would help.

People ask what the castings will cost. Nothing like this comes really cheap and generally I only make one run. I try to make it right and as such it costs what it costs.

We have the patterns from the covers made a few years back. The problem is getting a limited number poured. Now maybe just thinking out loud our local patterns and your foundry may work. So far there appears to be a need for 6 sets. I'll send you a PM later if you want to look in to it..You right it won't be cheap!

Thanks

I have a aluminum foundry that will pour small quantities for me. 12 pieces would work just fine. The guy treats me very reasonably and I am quite interested to helping myself and others out on this.
I will be back home tomorrow.
