I ordered emergency brake linings for my 26 fordor.
They are way to long & wide. My drum measures 1" x 8". I guess I shouldn't take things for granted. My question is how do you tell what year the rear end is? Can I cut down the linings to fit? I took off the wheels to clean & paint, The lining fell off, so I decided to replace bearings, seals, and linings.
Sounds like 09-25 drums 8"
We sell the right lining for yours also, are they cast iron shoes that you have, Bob
See "Improved car rear brake lining" Feb 2012 forum. Seems they can, and in some cases have to be, cut.
They are steel frames, not cast.
Here is the thread on cutting off the shelf lining material to fit:

Bob,
Where are your linings for sale at?
Dan
At here: http://www.bobsantiqueautoparts.com/
Thanks for the information!!
Dan
Or if you are beyond or close to Missouri I also carry Bobs parts danuser88@ktis.net
26-27 should have had 11" diameter drums, but Ford factory photos in Bruce's books show that very early 26's, perhaps prototypes, had small drum rears
I have a Sept 25 Fordor and it has the large drums. Maybe some plants still had leftovers?
Dan,
I am in Minnesota and sell new parts via Bob's as well. aloso@q.com
