I am planning to take a trip to the left coast and I want to drive my T on the Pacific coast highway along Big Sur from Morro Bay to Monterey. How doable is this and if I want to break it into two legs, are there any places to stay half way?

Maybe Randy Hearst will let you stay at his castle. Actually, there are hotels at San Simeon. There are also a few state parks along the way if you want to camp. But I suspect camping will require reservations well in advance. It's been decades since I went that way, so I don't trust my memory to tell you whether there are any steep grades.

I think it's called Windy Point or Hurricane Ridge where the winds are so strong. 35 was about all I wanted to do on that short stretch in the Speedster in 2001. Otherwise, it's just a scenic mountain hiway. It's not so far you need to take two days.

Cambria Pines is a good place to stay. I have driven a Model T both ways between Morro bay and San Simeon and it is an easy tour. The northern area is also easy. Just be forwarned that some places the road is on a cliff right above the ocean, so drive with caution and not too fast. I think you will really enjoy the drive.

It's a tourist area, lots of places to stay, spend money and drive in slow traffic and bicycle traffic..
Beautiful drive.
You may see some T Fords if you do it on a weekend.

The HCCA had their Old California Tour on that route last year. It's an easy drive in a T. There are plenty of places to stay too, and none are cheap. Monterey is a good starting point or ending point. If you wish to see Hearst Castle, you most certainly will have to stay there. All the motels are about a mile or two south of the castle. Cambria, Cayucos, and Morro Bay all have lots of motels, not to mention San Luis Obispo.

Maybe it'd be easier (and maybe more fun) to do this:

Sounds like this would be right up our collective alley.

This outfit has been in business a while and I'm kinda surprised they haven't gotten any recent mention in these hallowed halls.
