When I first bought my 1923 Runabout I spurged on one of the Apco style kits while still in the bloom of high hopes for a short fix-up. The car soon developed major problems and the kit was set aside and all but forgotten.

Just a few minutes ago while looking in the box of spare parts it fell into may hands again. Is this thing really an improvement? Is it worth installing? I'm going to be bolting the wishbone back to the pan anyway now that the motor is back in the frame . . .

Paul, here's a link to an accessory of the day post on these units.

seems like a band aid fix for a worn steering link, it takes up the slck with a spring, i would think a properly fitted ball joint woud be better.

Paul - I don't think these are a "band aid fix" rather a very good accessory. If you put them on a rebuilt front end your rod ends will always be tight because there is always spring loaded pressure keeping them tight. I have them on all of my cars and they all have good tight steering systems. Again I think they are a very good accessory and I would use it on a car that I was going to drive a lot. Just my opinion.

Mike, I run them on all our cars and I whole heartedly agree with you.

I also like the ball joint ones.

I already spent the money something like 8 years ago so I guess I might as well install it. The car seemed to drive OK according to the T folks that drove it. I only have about 5 miles driving myself it so that's not much of a test. Mebbee the APCO will keep it good & tight.

Paul, I really like the APCO ball caps. Both the coupe and the fordor have them on the drag link and radius rod balls. They really do remove a lot of play in the steering.
