Can't be too cold. Anthonie doesn't have his ears covered and there's standing water on the ice. Looks like a lot of fun however I don't know if I'd want to try to have to crank the car too much if I had to stand on ice. Although if it starts with just a couple pulls like I would imagine this one hprobably does it's not too bad.

That is one great looking car! What year is it? I see features of several brass era years.

Nice car. The icy setting reminded me of an event many years ago.

When I was 14 in 1961, I taught myself to start and drive my dad's 1926 coupe. We lived on a farm near Fort Wayne, Indiana. The county roads tended to be icy for weeks during the winter. One winter day that year, I decided to drive the T a half mile down to our neighbor's farm on the icy county road. I had read that one could slow a T already in high gear by stepping on any pedal. Slowing for the turn into our neighbor's driveway, I chose to step on the reverse pedal to slow it. The coupe did an instant 360 degree spin but fortunately stayed on the road. Never tried that stunt again. Driver's license: ha! That was 52 years ago and I still have that coupe (which is now in Oregon). neil

If my dad was still alive he would not like to see these pictures. He saved up enough money when he was 13 years old & bought a beat up '26 touring & was the envy of all his friends. His older brother came home from occupation duty in Germany during the winter & wanted to have a car to run around in while he was on leave. My Grandfather made dad loan him the car against my dad's wishes. Turns out my uncle & his buddies went to a big skating party & bon fire at a local pond & took the T out on the Ice. When it got time to leave, they couldn't get enough traction to get the T back over the bank of the pond, so they left it there, thinking they'd come back the next day. Unfortunately, by the time Uncle sobered up the next day, a warm front with heavy rains had moved in & the T went thru the ice. Dad was just as bitter about it when he died as he was when it happened.

When I was 13 we went camping at this same pond & dad walked out to a spot about 10 feet from the pond & said "well, about here is my first car" The pond had silted in so much over the years that the car is "buried" rather than under water.

Our club has two polo cars that we take out on the ice of Lake Pewaukee. We race around an ice track and see who can make the best time over three laps. Prior to the racing we let anyone drive, including the kids, we and they have a great time.

We are going out on the lake again later in February again. Should be a good time. Having a blast in Wisconsin, just you on the other side of the pond.

Mike: maybe the damp silt from the pond has stopped oxygen from totally rusting out your dad's car? Might be worth the trouble to ask the landowner and rent a mini excavator over a weekend? :-)

Sometimes mud preserves underwater stuff in great shape.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=ueDDjYsIqhI&feature=endscreen

Dale.... looks to me like it's a '14, possibly a '13. And as I keep learning about these wonderful machines, I was a bit surprised frankly to see an ammeter on the "dash" next to the coil box whose key is clearly also in "batt" position, as well as the key on the dash. Can't figure that one out.

Anthonie, when I looked at the last photo I thought the clear ice was standing water but on further investigation it's just really clear ice. It's funny how often I go outside to play around with stuff and I don't wear something to cover my ears or my hands and I hear about it all the time. I still really like your photos.
