1926 roadster

I just put my body back on the frame for the first time in 8 years... YEA... but the bolt holes for the frame to firewall brackets do not line up, in fact the drivers side bracket broke in half "old weld" while trying to bend it toward the engine... So i ordered new reproductions and they do not line up either.

Should I mount the radiator and fit the hood before drilling new holes or is something major messed up? The holes are to low on the firewall by at least 1/2 inch passenger and 1/4 inch drivers meaning if I lift the car body to fit the front of the body will be held up off the frame and blocks... This makes me think if I lift and mount the body the way it is then the hood might not fit right...

What should I check first?

My advice is to leave the brackets off. They are not needed and cause the firewall to crack. Late in production Ford quit using them. In fact, some late firewalls are not even punched for them.

The 26-7 frame to firewall brackets are mounted to the frame with the 90 degree flange facing away from the frame. Not inboard like the earlier cars.

Travis, before drilling any holes, take some pics for posting here. If you have the wrong brackets, or in the wrong holes plenty of help here.

Travis, look at this posting:

In the first picture the firewall bracket is bent but is on the frame correct.
