Hi.

Next thing: repair and replacement of rusted out floor pans for Minnie. I have a strange question.

The front floor pan under the seat had stiffening flutes down like this picture:

\image {front floor pan}

The other two floor sheets have flutes up, like these pictures

\image {floor by battery}

and

\image {trunk pan}

What is correct?

And again...

front pan, flutes down?

front floor pan

trunk pan by battery

trunk pan

Are these all face up? Should the front one be flipped?

Dennis.

Dennis, the 26 and 27 coupe floors are different. I don't know exactly when the change was made, but trust me they are. The biggest change was to the rear trunk floor pan . The one that you have pictured from Lang's is made by Howell Sheet Metal in Beaumont, TX. It is correct for a 26 coupe only. I should know. I have just been through the same thing and bought the same part, direct from Howell's. When we went to fit it, there were differences, mainly it will leave a gap in the floor at the front of the trunk pan if it is used in a 27 body. It can be used by doing some modifying if you don't care about correctness. I contacted Howell and he was unaware that there was a difference. He said he had always made every 26-27 trunk pan that way, so I would be very careful and compare the picture of each metal replacement part that you intend to buy to your originals.

Hi Dennis,I have a pic of how I installed the floor pans (all new from Howells). Hopefully, there is high enough resolution to see that I had the under seat floor pan with ribbing down and others have ribbing up. Hope that helps ???

Thanks, everybody.

I basically fell off the world there (work).

It looks like the fluting should be up for all of the panels (the one under the front seat was down.

Dennis Seth: I like yours!

Thanks, again.

One more question: Would I be able to get away with bolts/nuts or do I need to go back to rivets?

Dennis.

Dennis , is that a trailer fender that you used to make the spring hump??

I salvaged the original spring hump and did some repair work on it and then spot welded it in place. I think if someone needed one they could cut two arches for the sides folding tabs inward and and weld a top plate on it. When painted and in place I don't think anyone would know the difference.
