Seems there was a thread a while back about the best choice of wire mesh or expanded metal for the sides and back of a canopy express. Anyone recall the thread title or have any suggestions for this. I want something to look period correct but not be too heavy because I want to fabricate removable wood frames.

John,

Please do share your findings. I've struggled to find similar new and chalked it up to OSHA apparently deciding on 'gotcha stick' rules for where fingers can go before a potential hazzard exists.

FWIW, while the project that I was hoping to use larger diamond mesh on is a back burner project hoping to find salvage someday...were I to get serious and not find something in the meantime was to get the closest modern as to wire size in the crimped wire style and unweave it to strands!

Then take those very strands and manually weave it back together using a different 'crimp' location closest to the pattern I desired. (They just have a contact interlock like old Lincoln Logs anyway) Yeah, lot's of work...the price perhaps to pay...and maybe why it has been on the back burner...but...totally do-able!
