I was looking through my 4th ed Judging Guidelines book again and noticed that the "...valve covers and transmission door were silver.." In all the pictures in Bruce's book, none look silver. I don't think I've ever seen any that were silver. I know many of you are real knowledgeable on the older cars--what say ye?
The Ford brochure depiction of the 1911 engine shows the valve covers in a lighter shade. I assume it was this way in the brochure to emphasize the new enclosed valve spring chamber. I don't see any reason Ford would have painted them any differently than the rest of the engine parts. I've not seen any evidence on original cars to lead me to believe it either.
