In searching the FORUM I have found 2 head bolt torque sequencing pictures. Which is correct?
Either way as long as you work from the center out. KB
We always use the Bottom one.
Thanks!!
Neither one is correct or incorrect. You need to tighten all of them evenly. I doubt the order is terribly important. The important thing is to make sure the surfaces are utterly clean, flat and did I mention clean?
Also you should retorque the head once, and once only, after the engine is run and warmed up the first time after installing a new head gasket for any reason.
Are you off your Meds again Royce?
Kohnke,
I don't take any medication for anything. Perhaps an aspirin if I get a headache.
The bottom picture only shows 14 bolts, looks like an error?
Yeah, they missed the center bolt on the valve side. I wonder if Kohnke just leaves that one out?
I leave that bolt hole open so I can cook small sausages standing up.
llll
Yep, no 15th bolt, (must be for the snags) even the Model T Ford service book says 14 head bolts.
I've always used the same pattern as Herm's but with 10 & 11 reversed.
