Assume as much as an average condition black era Model T. How's that for a detailed response? :-)

Just a beautiful block mid year 1909 sold for $8500 about two or three years ago. It had been at Chickasha for two years prior and hadn't sold. It went to Australia. There was a 1910 block that was offered for $8000 about a year ago at Chickasha also. I don't believe it sold.

Depends which 1909 block you are talking about. If it is a water pump block below serial number 2500 it is worth a lot. As much as you can get from someone.

If it is a water pump block below perhaps serial number 750 then it is worth more than that. You could get as much money as the guy would pay.

If the serial number is above 11148 then it is a 1910 model year block. It would only be worth as much as someone would pay you.

Royce,

This is always the case, even for the most rare 1909 block:

"It would only be worth as much as someone would pay you."

I'll add to that, if it's #309 or earlier, even more (1908 manufacture). My dream was to own a 1908 "made" T. It would be New London to New Brighton MN eligible, and an incredible early Ford example.

Don't trade your K off for any T, Rob.

Ralph,

That was before acquiring our Model K. Now, only the following two cars would cause me to "get all excited."

Now the bring us back on topic, Cecil, do you have an 09 engine spotted?

Rob

Should say "to bring", not "the bring".

It might be worth throwing in the fact that it may be a fake. Ive seen several "made up" blocks over the years, some look great, some look very bad to the trained eye. It would be a shame to pay a big price for a fake. Put up some pictures to truly identify it.

Thanks for the comments. After I got to Chehalis to inspect the block I found it was part of a manufactured pump. The manufacturer apparently had applied the serial number as part of his manufacturing process. This was not an '09 block but much later production.

Cecil,

Sorry to hear it was a wasted trip. Good luck continuing to look for one.
