Has anyone besides me, ordered one?
How about we just post your phone number and they can call for you to look up any info for them?Saves everybody money! For sure their web site doesn't work.
They already have my name and address, what more do they want besides money? That ain"t happening!
I regestered, and now they ask for my password/ I finally tried to renew it and they failed to accept it 5 times! Now it says i must wait 15 minutes before trying again. It is utter BS.
Jack;
This directory has nothing to do with the computer. It's a hardback bound directory of member and pictures of their Model T's.
Maybe you should ask on the "NEW" MTFCI forum. I am sure Mark will see it and maybe can help.
I did not. I thought it was kind of pricey for what it was. I may wish I had if I ever see one in person.
Richard,I know,it is basically a coffee table book, meant to make money for the publishers. Years ago, when I was still a MTFCI member ,I bought one that was just names, cars and addresses,no pictures. It was pricy enough.I would love to have a MTFCA list like it,but the powers that be have not yet seen my side of the argument. I suspect in a few years,it won't matter to me. I know Mark was to have back surgery, and I hope he is on the mend by now. I just had my third back surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. Perhaps when he is feeling better,he will get this forum fixed so it isn't so user unfriendly. Then they may even have a link to it on their home page too.
Jack hope your healing up quickly and can get back to T-ing soon, I'm still waiting for 7-10 for a second opinion on my problem, but I'm able to still go---slowly--, or I get winded quickly and hurt, but we're still custom lawn mowing between rain drops, we;ve had almost 8 in this past week, start mowing again in the a.m.
ThanksJohn,I'm doing OK. Go back 6-20 for my check up.Hope you get some resolution to your problems soon.
I recently received a postcard in the mail from the MTFCI which mentioned their need to be in touch with me by way of telephone because they needed updated information on my car. When I spoke to the person on the other end of the curly wire, her lack of familiarity with the Model T made me suspicious, so I asked whether she was an official of the club. She admitted she was not. I asked whether she was a member. She wasn't that, either. This was puzzling. A few seconds later, the mystery was cleared up as she proceeded to pitch the book. She was a saleswoman representing the publisher. Her request that I make a commitment on a purchase was politely declined.
Harris Publishing Company is the company that publishes directories and books for many organizations. They have done ones in the past for my high school alumni association; my college alumni association; and the MTFCI to name ones that I am familiar with. I have bought two from my high school alumni association; one from the MTFCI; and currently have one on order from my college alumni association, but I don't buy one every time they are offered to me. They are a good source of information, but a little bit pricey.
I would rather just have a directory in a little booklet form with names, addresses, and phone numbers. I don't need pictures of other members cars, and certainly not for $50-60 bucks a pop.
I have an old MTFCI directory that cost maybe $10 a few years ago. IF I am traveling somewhere and I break down, than at least I have a list of people I can call that think my way and might be willing to help.
My 2cents.
Harris did the MTFCA directory in 2010. I bought it and I use it all of the time. It is handy.
Mike;
I bought that one also. Very nice book. Lots of pictures
I talked with a Saleslady today.
Added my new acquisition. 24 Coupe Jalopy.
3 options:
Hardbound 100 plus shipping
paperback 80 plus shipping
CD with photos only 25 plus shipping
I have a MTFCA directory that I checked out from our Chapter Library.
Some years back when a directory was offered, I purchased one. I looked at it a few times and put it away and never look at it again.
I decided not to make that same mistake again especially at two payments of $49 plus shipping.
I've got 4 postcards in the mail asking me to call and update my info.
I called after the second and listened to the sales talk from the nice lady and after I declined the payment offers and cheaper secondary offer she hung up on me abruptly while I was talking to her.
Just to clarify.
The CD contains only photos.
no demographics.
I phoned to verify my information so it will be correct in the book if anybody wants to contact me. I declined all offers, but the lady was still pleasant.
They keep sending one to my father who passed in 2000,Bob
I've used mine and am getting the new one. If I'm traveling some where I look up anyone in the area and call them and drop by for a chat if time allows, if not at least you have a new friend some where with a T OR more.
My two cents worth.
Bob
Bob,
I once received an advertisement for a prepaid funeral plan sent to my father. He died in the 50's. I sent it back with an address correction to the cemetery plot. I receive these directory "offers" from every organization and alumni association I belonged to. They keep my shredder warmed up.
I belong to the E Ford V8 club and they put out an excellent directory every year and its FREE!
