Hi Guys...After a year (or more)I now have all my parts blasted and painted (except main body), the engine is rebuilt, and I'm starting to put her back together!
So....I'll have lots of questions. Please be patient. Even with all the books, and photos as I took her apart, I can see I will need a nudge now and then.
This is a 16 touring.
First silly question: I'm mounting the firewall brackets and the firewall. Attached pic look correct?
Thanks...more to come
Michael
The brackets go on the engine compartment side. You have them backwards.
Looks right! The large hole for the steering column is on the left, and the slot for the choke rod is on the right.
The only thing that could be wrong is for the firewall to be on the wrong side of the brackets, but it appears the holes in the metal brackets are shaped to prevent that. I can't be sure, as my T has a metal firewall, but it certainly looks that way from the picture.
I don't have a '16 but on a '14 they would be on the other side of the dashboard and while it is hard to tell from the picture I think the. Brackets are reversed also.
yep..as I do a keyword search for 'firewall brackets, it appears I have them swapped out. Darn it.
Better to find out now!
Thanks,
Michael
Yeah, if you leave it like that, nothing will fit right. Not the hood, hood former, steering column, body.
Looking good otherwise!
Michael, you have the fire wall backwards too. The hole for the steering column is on the wrong side. it should be on the right!
