Dropped the pan to check the rods. The rod bolt nut is 2 piece with a spring in the center. The bolt itself looks like a wood screw?
Whats the idea with this? Oh and you don't need a wrench to take it apart.
Fred, those where self adjusting rods, most that I have taken out have a bearing out of them already. They are neat looking but have no Ideal if they work very long?
Can I just replace the rod bolts and nuts?
Crank and rod surface still looks good, and it ran good also!

Fred, get rid of those things and put standard rod bolts in, KB
Thanks Guys,New bolts on order!
I've got a set of those spring loaded rods. Another very bad accessory from back in the day.
Then as now you can't believe the advertising hype when shopping for T parts. If someone says the original Model T design is inferior or unreliable, he or she is making it up as they go.
Looks to me like those would wear out the babbit faster. Having the constant spring pressure on the cap would squish the oil out.
