What is the secret to embedding pics on Their New Forum?
I noticed a couple guys did it.
But all I managed to do was unravel the Thread.
Thanks

On photos hosted elsewhere (I use photobucket) you can make them show up by using [IMG] [/IMG] tags with the web address of the picture between those tags.

For example, this would show up as a picture on the new MTFCI forum, rather than a link as it shows here.

[IMG]http://i842.photobucket.com/albums/zz347/Derek69SS/Model%20T/Vintage%20Speedster s/234003.jpg[/IMG]

You can use any picture you want anywhere on the web, put its address between [IMG] and [/IMG] and it will show up.

Making headway.
Finally got a pic posted.

Thanks
Jim and Derek.

Still wondering how you get your pic with blue box containing number posted.

The pictures I posted last week were visible for several days, but now they're gone. I guess I'll quit for awhile and check it later to see if it's fixed.

Maybe trying to learn a new app while the crop dusters are still in the air makes it entertaining.

I've remained relatively quiet on the subject of the new MTFCI forum. I understand the need for the change and fully expect to have to do the same thing here soon. BUT........We have not had to do the [IMG] and [/IMG] thing to post pictures on this forum IN YEARS! You'd think a brand new software package would be a little more high tech than that. Is this just a temporary means of getting pics posted on there until they get some bugs worked out or are you guys talking permanent?

I've given up trying to post anything over there. I keep getting error messages even when I try to edit my profile. Screw It

I agree! I posted a couple of pics this morning but this evening I can't hardly post any words and when I try to type a beginning sentence it jumbles it up. I would have thought before the move the moderators would have made sure the script was working correctly or at least close. I also don't like the fact that anyone can edit any post at any time. That's a definite NO,NO.

Seems there are a lot of glitches to work out. As far as I can see, the only way to post pictures at this time is using [img] tags. A pain for sure. I think a lot of guys are giving up on it until it gets fixed. I'd guess it will get worked out sooner or later.

What is the reason for the change?
Please tell me this forum wont have to go to that format eventually?!! :>0
I aint registered since I aint a memeber of the I club.
The only time I ever went over there was to check to see what happened to this 1.

Mack, you don't have to be a member of MTFCI to register for the forum. When you register that's supposed to make it work better for you. You couldn't prove it by me. Pictures I posted last week were visible for several days, but now they're gone. Maybe in another month or so the webmaster will get it working OK.

The image tags have nothing to do with posting photos to your post unless you want them to display full size rather than appear as clickable thumbnails which are MUCH more bandwidth friendly.
The [OPENING] and [/CLOSING] tags are standard on nearly every other forum on the internet.
If you want to embed a photo from another site >>>
[img]www.photofromsomewhere.jpg[/img] and it displays.
vBulletin is well established bulletin board software.
If there are bugs it's with the webmaster....not the software.

Was able to add a photo to Ron's Post attempt.
But it gave me an (in or un or not)secure feeling.

Kirk
I agree, that is a little creepy.
I will email the MTFCI Forum Webmaster about it.

Finally learned how to klunkily embed a pic as an attachment.

But maybe I am not patting my tummy and rubbing my head correctly to initially post using the camera icon.

It will get figured out.
