Is there a special tap for threads on ring gear?
IS this far a T or a TT? The T ring gear threads are 5/16 - 24. The threads for the rear end drive-line spool bolts is very special and uncommon - do not chase them with a standard tap.

1925 model tt sorry I didn't specify.
If you're talking about the differential ring (worm) gear, there aren't any threads. The assembly uses nuts, washers (maybe cotter pins, I can't remember) and bolts.
I'm tearing down a Ruxstell last nite and today and there are no threads, just special bolts, washers, and nuts inside of it, the bolts just go thru the ring gear , no threads, the worm runs on top and turns the worm.
Sorry again brass magnet screw mounts.
Yes, they are #14-24.
Thanks for info.
Ok then -- So you're asking about the starter ring gear, not the rear end. As Ken mentioned above, the originals are #14 x 24 tpi. But be aware that if you replace the old ring gear with a new reproduction one, the threads in those are 1/4" x 24 tpi. If you get a new ring gear, you'll also need the repro screws which go with it (1/4" x 24).
Mike, I'll bet you a 5th of Ancient Age with a six pack of Coors on the side that those threads are 1/4 x 28.
Well, Unc, if you're that sure, I'd better not bet!! (But I just checked Lang's catalog, and they say they are 1/4 - 24.)
