I have been following the efforts of others trying to post pictures on the other site. I am wondering if any of the photos I posted can be seen by others. I have had no problem posting them.

All I see is a blank white screen. No pics.

Pictures seem to post OK, but the results seem different on the two times I posted pictures.
The pictures were smaller the first time and you could click on them to enlarge. The next time I posted the same way, the pictures were larger and you could not click on them to enlarge.
I used the very same procedure????????

I just went to the MTFCI web site and looked in the post June 1 forum. I could not find one picture on the site, including one post explaining how to post pictures!
Lets hope it can be debugged if the MTFCA moves to the system.

In the thread titled "Don't give up yet" no pictures are visible at this time. I say at this time because things keep changing. It's quite a mess. I'm glad I don't have Mark's job.

Steve
I don't see your Chickasha pic you just posted.

I'm not surprised. As I said, quite a mess.

Can anyone else see my four posts and three photos at this link?

Chris;
Nope, I see the post but no photos. If you click on the link I put in above can you see the photos I posted.

Thanks, Mark.

I can see my photos in my posts, but can't see yours. The screen grab below is what I see at your link — however, clicking the two links in that box will download small photos. Strangely, the photos download at about 60K despite being described in your post as over 400K.

I'm very glad not to be the MTFCI Webmaster these days.

If the MTFCI forum is going to be the same forum that Ford Barn went to, I most likely won't be back. I tried the Ford Barn forum for a while after it changed, and it sucks. So far, so does the MTFCI forum, as far as I am concerned. If this forum has to change, I sure hope that is something much better than that. It is just WAY too cumbersom in my opinion. JMHO. Dave

I find it hard to believe that vBulletin and the other program Mark mentioned are about all that is out there. Obviously vBulletin is pretty bad according to those of you that use it with FordBarn.

Maybe they just need to put it over on yahoo. Yahoo works similar to this program except the pictures are in a different file.

Trooper seems to have the pictures figured out.

Hey Dave... About every 5 th post I make over there with pics, I ask if people can see them. The two responses that Ive gotten about seem to be from the guys that can only see what they've posted, which I CANNOT see. Those "attachments" come up as a blank page.
For the last year or so here, Ive just been using my regular posting system which entails the reader to open my pic link. On youre suggestion I ran a second "file" of re-sized pics solely for here and quit doing that as a LOT of disc space was being used re-dundantly. On the International forum, my pics seem to show up "in text".
Theres at least a dozen forum hosts, and V bulletin is a major player. Im gonna stand by my comment that some braniac sold them on the " I know everything about forums and know just what you need" and took the V bulletin and tweaked it so it is all fouled up. I have a son in law that worked on my computer (does it for banks for a living) and it was sooo screwed up that about 20 Mg of my pics got "lost" and the Mozilla and google chrome, and a myriad of other programs fouled things up so bad that I needed to have a new hard drive installed (by a real professional)and then needed to have the whole system reformatted. BTW on the pics thing, when I do my weekly scan for virus protection, it takes about 7 hours and scans 1.5 million files. I also do a scan disc, and De-frag hard the hard drive.
So all in all, after "playing" with this place, Fordbarn and the MTFCI, my real time is spent running two of my own forums which are ProBoard and V Bulletin driven. I don't seem to have a problem, and FWIW, my first computer was in 2006 along with a cell phone that I have mastered making / taking calls on, call waiting is "iffy" and the installed "directory" is OK but my wife has to enter the new numbers for me. Howz them apples??? ws

If it's like Fordbarn, you can't see the photos unless you are log in. Mark is doing a good job and I will keep plugging away at my end by making postings. Unless as one poster says he can't get registered, Fordbarn is very easy to use.
Chris;
I logged out of the international forum then went back and followed my link above, I saw the file names instead of photos but could open the attached files that are shown in the box and see those photos.

I have been with Fordbarn since Shelley had it and moved to the new forum when Ryan got it. I have tried everything I know but for the life of me I can't get it to work. One day it works fine and the buttons let you post a pic and the next day it says I am not authorized to post but will post the verbal part but not a pic. I tried it with all the buttons and feel like I am using bandwidth that could be better left to more productive postings. I also, feel like a dummy when I keep trying to post a picture and it never shows up even when I follow Troop's instructions. I go back and try just because, I don't like to fail at anything. Just looks like this one has me stumped till whatever child is configuring the script gives up and leaves and it goes back to the old one.

I have observed that an image is needed from an URL.
Then I used the Advanced Editor to upload the image and send to the server.
That is just how I did it.
There may be other ways.
I have to be signed in to view.

I see Trooper and Royce pic and the Brass on Brick T.

Pls let me know if you do or dont see the Anderson manifold or MilFord pic over There.
Thanks

Kirk and I just posted some pictures. I wonder if anybody else can see them. I wonder if they'll still be there tomorrow.

I MAY have discovered:

If you initiate a Thread it is easier to post pics during THAT post from the Camera Icon.

Let me know
Thanks

I find Ford Barn user friendly and do occasionally post pictures.
I think the new MTFCI forum is now letting me post pictures?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Tony Bowker on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 - 04:49 pm:

I poked around the MTFCI Forum and saw two pictures!!!
I guess they are gradually solving the problems. Mind you the two pictures were very small and I had to click on them to see any detail. Lets hope that requirement goes away.

I've tried a few times. I can post but not attach a picture yet. Here is the picture that went with my last try__Ely Nv. 2005 cleaning railroad grade crossing.

I find it odd (OK, a little bit amusing) to hear folks talk about how "difficult" FordBarn and now the new MTFCI forums are to use. I guess I'm the odd man out on this one because I'd much rather use that kind of interface than this style. With the vBulletin style forum you can subscribe to threads that interest you, quote posts above yours, etc...

To those of you who are dead set against it, I'd like to encourage you to give it an honest chance with an open mind because it's not as bad as it might seem. I had intended to spend some time this evening playing around with the different methods of uploading photos but haven't had a chance yet. Maybe a few of us can get together and figure out what works and what doesn't, and then create a tutorial of sorts.

Hang in there guys, it'll get better!

I think I was a little misleading in my post above. I don't have any problem with Fordbarn in any way. I can do anything there that I need to. The new MTFCI forum is a jumble that doesn't work. I can post a picture in any post that I start if the picture is in that posting. If I try to post a picture in an existing post, be it mine or others, It won't work.
