A complete engine out of a car I bought. The engine has the carb and distributor linkage mounted on the firewall.
Questions, the block does not have the throttle linkage pass through hole between number 2 and 3 cylinders or the valve cover.
This is a marine engine?
Would a boat have the same three pedal tranny?
I have seen a couple of number matching engine/frame numbers on 1927 engines that the throttle linkage hole between cylinders 2 and 3 was not there.
Tyrone, I believe that engines that were equipped with vaporizers have a different throttle linkage setup and did not have the hole in between 2 and 3.

Read the thread above.
There was a clever modification to the transmission to provide direct drive for going forward and 0.96:1 in the opposite direction for reversing.
Vaporizer engines have no linkage through the block, though mine still has a small rough hole between cyls 2 and 3.
thank you all. This engine is set up with the pre vapor carb set up. So this all makes sense.
