Is there an easier way of taking a bow out of its socket? I would like to preserve and reuse the original wood bow, but it is very difficult to take out, even with tapping a screw driver between the metal and wood. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thank you in advance. Bob
Bob-
Make sure all the nails, screws or whatever fasteners have been put in over the years are out. Then put the top iron in a vice and use a hammer to tap the bow out.
Good luck,

Use a rawhide mallet, so you don't mess it up.
